KAB is Sainsbury’s Local Charity of the Year, and Mrs Grant was visiting the Romney Place store to see for herself the support Sainsbury’s staff and customers are giving to the local community. This is the second cheque presentation to KAB and Sainsbury’s staff and customers have now raised over £5,000 for the charity since June last year.
In January, Sainsbury’s staff will be also building on their existing commitment to ensuring that customers with a sensory or physical impairment are supported in the store by signing-up for a session of visual impairment awareness training. The training, provided by KAB Rehabilitation staff, will explain how best to ensure a positive experience for Sainsbury’s customers whose sight is impaired.
Lea Pulling says: “Sainsbury’s is supporting KAB because they make a real difference to our local community through their rehabilitation work with sight impaired children and adults in the Maidstone area. Our staff have worked so hard to raise as much as possible.”
Charles Marshall, Head of Fundraising at KAB Maidstone says: “Sainsbury’s support is making a real difference to lives of so many people in and around Maidstone whose sight is impaired. Staff have got really involved in fundraising for our work and the total they’ve raised, just 6 months into the partnership, is fantastic.
"Sainsbury’s have also generously donated refreshments and a lavish hamper for our Christmas Variety Show in December which raised an additional £2,000 for our work. In these difficult financial times, the support of Sainsbury’s Maidstone helps us make sure that vital projects for blind and partially sighted people in Maidstone can continue.”
