Chief Executive

Karen joined KAB in February 2007. KAB's Trustees delegate day-to-day responsibility for running the charity to the Chief Executive, so Karen is responsible for KAB's strategy, finances, policy, and service delivery and development. She has over 20 years experience of voluntary sector management, mainly gained with disability charities.

 
Vanessa Stanley

Vanessa Stanley
Head of Human Resources

Vanessa joined KAB in July 2002 having worked in Human Resources for The Independent, The Independent on Sunday and Marie Curie Cancer Care. Vanessa is responsible for all areas of KAB recruitment, performance management, organisational policies and training on personnel issues.

Jonathan_Ward

Jonathan Ward
Head of Rehabilitation Services

Jonathan was appointed Head of Rehabilitation Services in July 2010. Having previously worked as a Rehabilitation Worker, Team Leader and Rehabilitation Operations Manager for East Kent with a total of more than 20 years of experience in providing services to people with sight impairments, Jonathan feels he still has much to learn but also much to share.

Jen Beardsley

Jen Beardsley
Head of Finance

Jen has been with KAB since August 2007 and has responsibility for the financial controls and the day-to-day running of the finance department. Jen is a qualified chartered accountant, and gained experience with a number of different charities having trained in audit with Pricewaterhouse Coopers and later moving on to a smaller accountancy practice.


Katherine_Barr

Katherine Barr
Rehab Operations Manager

Katherine joined KAB in April 2011 and has responsiblility for the day to day running of the six rehabilitation teams across Kent, Bromley and Medway. She also leads on specific projects such as the Peer Support Programme and My Guide work. Prior to KAB Katherine worked in Service Management for Barnardo’s for 5 years.

Kay Mannering
Guide Communicator Service Manager

Kay first joined KAB as a Guide Communicator in 2002 and worked as a GC for 5 years. After a short break from the KAB, she re-joined the Guide Communicator Service in 2009 as a Senior Guide Communicator and was promoted to GC Service Manager in May 2011. Before Kay joined KAB she taught Deaf Awareness and BSL at Adult Education for 9 years.  

Avril_Chapman

Avril Chapman
Foundation Degree Manager

Avril joined KAB in April 2005, she has academic responsibility for the Foundation Degree in Rehabilitation and she is the Internal Verifier for the accredited Open College Network (OCN) Sensory Impairment courses. Avril is a qualified teacher and gained her experience managing programmes and teaching within Adult Education.

Marten_Rayner

Marten Rayner
Digital Production Manager

Marten joined KAB in July 2008, he is responsible for the operation of the Talking Newspaper and commercial Transcription services. Working with a team of volunteers both in house and across Kent and Medway, Marten has more than 20 years experience in the field of audio production and is a regular contributor to professional audio forums and magazines.

Chrissie Keeley
Community and Events Fundraiser

Chrissie joined KAB in December 2011.  She plans and oversees our community fundraising involving teams of volunteers as well as major events like the London Marathon.  Prior to working at KAB Chrissie worked in events management.
