Many people enjoy listening to newspapers, magazines and books which have been recorded on tape. The Kent Talking Newspaper Service has 14 local Newspapers on tape for blind and partially sighted people throughout the county of Kent.

The local newspaper in any community plays a vital role in keeping the local population informed. Communication is vital to sighted people but much more so to those who cannot see.

The Kent Talking Newspaper Service is there to provide that communication and to give visually impaired people the independence to 'read' for themselves local news and views, and enable them to feel a part of the community in which they live.

Further interest is added by the addition of a recorded magazine which includes articles of local and general interest, stories, general knowledge and more. A weekly information spot is of particular interest to the visually impaired listener. About 3,000 listeners receive their local news each week plus a recorded magazine FREE.
