13th April 2008 Flora London Marathon

KAB would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to each member of our 10-strong team of Marathon Runners! Each one of them stepped up to the enormous challenge of running 26.2 miles through the streets of London in order to raise valuable funds for the vital works of KAB! We are very proud of each member of the team - and of course very grateful to them for choosing KAB as their Marathon Charity!

If you would like to sponsor any members of our team, it is not too late! All you have to do is click on the runner and take it from there!

All of our KAB Golden Bond runners are required to raise a minimum of £1350.

Tuesday 15th April 2008 Medway Low Vision Exhibition

Kent Association for the Blind invite you to the Medway Low Vision Exhibition of ideas and equipment to help people with low vision.

Taking place at the Corn Exchange, Rochester, Kent on Tuesday 15th April 2008 from 10am to 4pm. Admission is free, wheelchair access is available and there is plenty of parking available nearby.

On display will be all sorts of equipment, such as, magnifiers, computer software, CCTV's, a range of talking equipment from clocks & watches to memo's & telephones. Tape & library services, leisure activities, arts, crafts and daily living skills. Thursday 1st May 2008 - Sight Matters Exhibition

Come and enjoy an exhibition of ideas and equipment to help people with low vision. On display will be a wide range of magnifiers, talking equipment, CCTVs, computer software and information on tape services, and on hand will be our Rehabilitation Team happy to give you advice and information.

From 10am - 3pm at the KAB Sight Centre, 72 College Road, Maidstone, ME15 6SJ. Admission is free and tea and coffee are available. Wheelchair access is also available at the back lower ground entrance to the building.

14th June 2008 Tandem Skydive

Experience the thrill of free falling from 12,000ft at Headcorn Aerodrome. Strapped to a qualified instructor, you will free fall for approximately 45 seconds, before your parachute opens, and you drift slowly back down to solid ground.

11th and 12th July 2008 Opera Project presents 'Falstaff' by Verdi, Doddington Place Gardens, Kent.

Tickets for 'Falstaff' by Verdi are on sale now at £40 each. To book your tickets call Alison on 01622 691357 or e-mail alison.mcnaught@kab.org.uk

The Opera will begin at 7pm and there will be a 45 minute interval. The performance will end by approximately 10pm. The gardens will be open each night from 5.00pm for those wishing to picnic.

Opera has become a regular event at Doddington Place since 1998 attracting hundred's of people each year.

Described as 'the future of opera' by Country Life.

KAB have been the very fortunate beneficiaries of these events which have so far raised a fantastic £100,000!

Dover - Exhibition August 2008

KAB's Dover team are holding an Exhibition at Ashford school & Ashford Friars Prep School in East Hill, Ashford, Kent TN24 8PB on Wednesday 20th August 2008 from 10am to 3pm. Come along and try out equipment and gadgets and gizmos. Our KAB team will be happy to give advice and information on all sight matters and services. 13 September 2008 Dragon Boat Race

KAB have secured 3 Dragon Boats for this years event - The Kelsey Kyakers (crewed by Kelsey Publishing Ltd), Tangerine Dream (crewed by Tangerine UK) and The Norton Commandos (crewed by The Norton Knatchbull School). Good luck to them all!

Crews of 16 paddlers, plus a drummer, take to the water to compete in a Chinese Style dragon boat race, over a 250m course. Each team will participate in a minimum of 3 races - more if they reach the final rounds! Fancy dress is encouraged, with prizes for the best dressed crew!

Minimum age 16. 16yr olds must be accompanied by a racing adult.

Minimum sponsorship £125 per crew member.

11 October 2008 'Go Over the Top' Abseil

Are you brave enough to abseil 90ft off the top of Fremlin Walk Shopping Centre in the heart of Maidstone?

Minimum age 15.

All participants are required to raise a minimum of £75 sponsorship.
