Fundraising

KAB undertakes many fundraising events to enable us to continue offering high quality services and support to people who are blind or partially sighted. We would welcome your help either as a donor/sponsor, a volunteer or a participant in one of our events.

KAB welcomes donations to help support our work.

Darts and Pool Leagues

KAB sponsors 12 darts and pool leagues throughout the area, which play throughout the year. Teams pay an entry fee and make a donation to KAB on match nights and KAB provides trophies/certificates at the end of the season. We are very grateful to all our League secretaries who run the Leagues on our behalf. Are you in a Darts team and looking for a league to join? Call Alison McNaught on 01622 691357 for information.

Collecting Media

KAB has approximately 6,000 collecting boxes sited throughout Kent, Medway and the London Boroughs of Bromley and Bexley. The funds raised from these sites are a vital source of income to KAB and we are very grateful to all our site holders for allowing us the opportunity to reach the public in this way.

Street and Store Collections

KAB holds street and store collections throughout the year. We could not hold these collections without the generous support of volunteers. It can be fun and is very exciting watching your box fill with coins! Would you like to help - just two hours of your time could make a difference. Please call for details of collections in your area.

Home Collecting Boxes

Have you got spare change in your pockets, or at the back of your sofa and chairs? Why not have one of our flat pack collecting boxes. It is ideal for use in the home and we can post it to you today - call 01622 691357 for your own KAB home box.

Kent Association for the Blind has a number of fundraising groups throughout the County where volunteers organise events on behalf of KAB. We welcome new members to join these groups as well as creating new groups throughout the County.

Tax-effective gifts

Voluntary income is vitally important to KAB and provides finance for many aspects of our rehabilitation service. We therefore invite our donors to make their gifts by using a tax-effective method whenever possible so that their gift produces the maximum value to KAB.

Gift-Aid

This tax-effective way of giving is applicable to all single donations. KAB can reclaim the tax in a similar way to a deed of covenant thus increasing the total value of the gift. In this way a one-off gift can be maximised without the need to make a commitment for four years as is the case with a deed of covenant. If you pay tax, you may make a Gift-Aid donation online using your credit card from our donations page.

Pay-Roll giving

Employees of participating companies can elect to make regular monthly donations out of their pre-taxed salary up to a maximum contribution of (£900) £17.30 a week/£75 a month.

Legacies and Wills

Legacies provide KAB with a regular and valuable source of revenue. For anyone requiring advice about making or changing their Will we can supply a list of solicitors who are sympathetic to the needs of people who are visually impaired.

All these solicitors will be pleased to advise you on making your Will and explain how to leave a legacy to KAB. For your free copy of our helpful leaflet and list of solicitors please contact alison.mcnaught@kab.org.uk.

Charitable Trusts

KAB has received and continues to receive substantial financial support from a range of charitable trusts. These grants have been instrumental to the establishment of KAB Sight Centres in Maidstone and Canterbury. Trustees are invited to request full details of our current projects for consideration by their grants committee.

Company Sponsorship

KAB is supported by both National and Kent based companies which provide grants for important projects and sponsorship for fundraising events. Companies may also make good use of Gift Aid for one-off gifts and Deeds of Covenant when choosing to make a long term commitment.

To receive a copy of KAB's Annual Report and further information about tax-effective giving or any fund raising opportunities you can e-mail Alison McNaught on alison.mcnaught@kab.org.uk or use the Information Request Form.

Recycling and Purchasing

KAB has partnered with CMR (Corporate Mobile Recycling) who recycle mobile phones for the developing world, and also recycle ink jet cartridges. Recycling your unwanted mobile phone and ink jet cartridges is an easy way to help fundraise for KAB and allows you to ‘do your bit’ for the environment too! Click here to learn how you can get involved with KAB’s recycling initiative.

KAB has also teamed up with Choice Stationery – the UK’s leading printer consumables supplier. Choice Stationery will be making a donation to KAB for each online stationery purchase made by KAB supporters. Click here to learn more about how your stationery purchase can raise funds for KAB.
