Benefits
The pages in this section of the website provide an overview of the benefits that may be available to people who have sight impairments. Benefits for people who have sight impairments or for people who are caring for someone with sight impairments are categorised under the headings:
- Older people
- People of working age
- Children
- Carers (including parents)
Read more about these benefits by clicking the links on the menu on the right.
In order to be eligible to apply for some benefits, you don't have to be registered severely sight impaired/blind or sight impaired/partially sighted. However, whilst registration is voluntary, it can sometimes support your application for benefits.
The information that follows sets out the main benefits that are available as well as some of the key eligibility criteria. However, full details of benefits, including current rates, can be found on RNIB's website.
