What is here:
The KAB Mid Kent Sight Center is a large accessible building recently refurbished to a high standard that has been adapted for the needs of visually and physically disabled people. It includes a well-equipped training kitchen, a well stocked and up to date Resource Center, an I.T. Training Suite, two lounges-cum-meeting rooms, an L.V.A. room as well as the administration offices. We also have a large meeting room which can accommodate seventy people.
What happens here:
Monthly Toy Library; coffee mornings; regular rehabilitation courses (contact the Duty Officer for details); weekly appointments with a Hospital Optician; regular I.T. training classes; awareness training and much more . . .
KAB Local Support Groups:
Staplehurst, Headcorn and Marden Club meet at The McCabe Centre, Bell Lane, Staplehurst on the third Monday of every month between 10.00 - 12.00.
Tenterden Welfare Branch meet to enjoy a social get together every six weeks 2.00 - 4.00 p.m.
Maidstone and District Centre for the Blind meet at The Methodist Church Hall, Brewer Street, Maidstone, every Thursday (except August) between 10.00 a.m. and 3.30 p.m.

Our Voluntary Services Organiser is always delighted to hear from anyone who would like to volunteer a little of their free time. The opportunities are endless, everything from helping in the Centre, befriending, reading mail, providing transport (for which expenses are paid) or supporting our Rambling Group Helping with the Talking Newspaper service etc. Contact Mary for an informal chat.
Computer Training :
We run regular I.T. courses covering everything from the very basics, i.e. learning to touch type, to accessing the internet. For more information about training in your area and an application form please contact the I.T. Service on 01622 691357 or e-mail: it@kab.org.uk
