Stepping out for sight lossFancy taking part in a sporting fundraising event? Each year we offer supporters the chance to take part in special events to raise money for services for people with sight impairments.

We're offering the opportunity to be a part of:

  • The KAB 24 mile Virtual Cycle Ride
  • The 2018 Virgin London Marathon
  • Assault Course Challenge
  • London to Brighton cycle ride
  • Dragon Boat Racing at Bewl Water or Mote Park
  • 100ft Abseil

 Virtual Cycle Ride 2018

Cycling PosterOn World Sight Day 2016 we launched our first Virtual Cycle Ride! We are inviting people to cycle 24 miles which can be completed on a route of their choosing, over as many days as they want. You can take part as an individual or as a team, on a static bike at the gym, or outside in the park.

Registration is just £15 per person which includes personalised sponsor forms, a finishers medal and certificate. By registering for this event; you are helping us provide befrienders to isolated, visually impaired individuals in the local community.

Take part as a team of four and benefit from a reduced registration fee of £50; this could help fund a group training session to teach sight impaired people to use the internet and access emails.

There is no minimum sponsorship required but any additional funds raised will of course be greatly appreciated!

KM Big Bike Ride - 29th April 2018

Choose from a gentle 50km route or a more challenging 100km course both heading out from Betteshanger Country Park, A258, Deal, Kent CT14 0BF.
* Hot/Cold Food and drink at finish available, mid-ride refreshments for all riders
* Free sportive photograph of you during the bike ride
* Timing Chips
* Goody Bag and medal
Please note: Due to insurance purposes this ride is not open to anyone under the age of 12. Riders aged 12-17 must have a parental consent form signed by a parent or legal guardian and must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

KM Colour Run - 10th June 2018

Whether you run, jog, walk it is a great way to raise some money and get splattered with colour powder.

The event is less about your 10-minute-mile and more about having fun, The KM Colour Run is a 5km, un-timed run in which participants are doused from head to toe in different colours at points throughout the run. The aim is start white and finish bright!

The KM Colour Run is a great fundraising and team-building event appropriate for participants of all ages (U16’s must be accompanied by an adult runner)

KM Charity Walk - 24th June

Leaving from the beautiful Grade II listed mansion Mote House, Maidstone, participants will have the choice of a gentle five-mile route, or a more challenging 10-mile route for keen ramblers. Both are designed to be varied, interesting and fairly flat with some occasional hills. As always, the walk will take you along the pretty highways and byways of the stunning Kent countryside, passing by the beautiful Leeds Castle on the 10 mile route.

Dragon Boat Racing - 1st July 2018 and 8th September 2018

Get together with a team of 17 and take part in the KM Dragon Boat race at Mote Park or the Bewl Water Dragon Boat races in Lamberhurst.

Teams compete against each other across a 250m course. We ask that each member of your team commits to raising a minimum of £100 each. 

Crews do not need to be super fit or skilled to be successful - all that's required is teamwork and a good sense of fun!

London to Brighton Cycle - 16th September 2018

l2b2016 logoJoin us as we cycle 54 miles from Clapham Common to Brighton Sea Front. The route is signposted throughout and all abilities are welcome. Registration is £42 per person and this includes a buffet lunch, water, mechanical help and a coach back to London for you and your bike.

Assault Course Challenge - date to be announced...

KM assault course logo webThe KM Assault Course Challenge puts teams of six people (aged 14+) through our assault course that will test the mettle of participants. It is not as hard as an army assault course and as such allows everyone to take part, no matter your age or physical ability. We have new obstacles for 2017!

This challenge is staged at Betteshanger Country Park, Deal and now boasts over 20 pieces of equipment including tunnels, balance beams, rope walk, water jump and tyre wall. To succeed the members of a team will have to work together and communicate effectively to contend with Kent's longest civil assault course.

 


KM Abseil - date to be announced... 

Abseil launch KAB A WebThe abseil challenge being staged by the KM Charity Team will be held at Thomas Place, Maidstone which boasts a 100ft drop! Each fundraiser is asked to raise a minimum of £75; 30% of the total raised will be awarded to the KM Charity Team with the remaining 70% being awarded to KAB.
