Rosheen accesses the Guide Communicator service and tells us how this is benefitting her.

When I was just 12 years old, I was diagnosed with Glaucoma and Myopia. Over the years, my vision has gradually deteriorated, leaving me with no sight in my left eye and extreme tunnel vision in my right. Tasks like reading my post became increasingly difficult, and I didn’t want to turn to my Mum or sister all the time.

I knew I needed help, so when I discovered KAB’s Guide Communicator service, I signed up. It’s been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

Every two weeks, I meet with my Guide Communicator, Andi, for two hours. The support he provides is invaluable. Today, for example, he’s helping me read my mail. Later, we’ll prepare meals for the week ahead, which allows me to stay independent. Sometimes we go shopping together, which is a real help finding everything I need and identifying expiry dates.

The difference Andi’s support makes in my life is huge. It keeps me more independent and helps me stay on top of everyday tasks without needing to rely on others. The service isn’t just practical – it’s a source of joy too. We laugh together, share stories, and make sure my life continues moving forward, no matter the challenges my sight loss may present.
