If you work to support sight impaired individuals across Kent, Medway, Bromley and surrounding areas, here are some useful links to organisations and information that may help you.
Referring to KAB services
To access our full range of services, an individual will usually have a bilateral sight impairment, which isn’t correctable. We accept referrals from sight impaired individuals, their families, support organisations, local authority teams, Opticians and more!

Supporting Patients with Low Vision – CPD training
We run CPD accredited training courses for staff teams, earning attendees three interactive CPD points. The training covers understanding how low vision can affect everyday life, the importance of accessible information and different communication methods, the resources and low vision aids available, and more!
Other useful information
We’ve compiled a list of suppliers of Assistive Technologies (software, computers, smart phones), equipment to help people carry out daily tasks (cooking, reading, etc) and other organisation who may be able to help.
Some of the ways we help people
Rehabilitation
Our specially trained Rehabilitation Workers provide help and advice through an assessment at home or work.
1-2-1 Support
Through our Guide Communicator service, we can provide extra support to help people carry out everyday tasks and activities.
Technology skills
Our free Assistive Technology service teaches people how to use computers and other technology.
Counselling
KAB’s free Counselling service, delivered by our highly trained team, can help with issues that may be affecting someone’s life, in addition to sight loss.
ECLOs
Our Eye Clinic Liaison Officers (ECLOs) support people attending eye clinic outpatient appointments across 10 hospitals in Kent, Medway, Bromley and Bexley.
Young people
We help children and young people with to become as independent as possible. This includes mobility skills, support within their school environment and activities such as theatre trips and ice-skating.
