TV licence concession
Can I apply for a reduced price TV licence and how do I do this?
Only if you are severely sight impaired, can you get a half price TV licence. Firstly you’ll need to apply by filling in an online application form or printing it out and sending it to them along with your evidence.
A copy of ONE of these documents is needed as evidence, however, you won’t need this when you renew it:
- CVI (Certificate of Visual Impairment)
- BD8 Certificate
- A certificate or document issued by a Local Authority (showing you are registered as severely sight impaired)
- A copy of a certificate from an Ophthalmologist (eye surgeon), stating that you are severely sight impaired.
If you live with someone who is severely sight impaired, you can apply for a concession. If you already have a TV Licence, but it isn’t in the name of the person who is blind, you’ll need to transfer the licence into their name. You can do this by making a first time blind application. Enter the existing TV Licence number for your address when you apply. However, if the person is under 18, a different process will apply.
